This cheetah suffered a deep, painful wound on her back left paw after being caught in a poacher’s snare. Immediate intervention was critical—our veterinary team in partnership with Zambeze Delta Conservation removed the snare, treated the injury, and stabilized her. From there, the dedicated team at Zambeze Delta Conservation monitored her recovery in the boma for two months, ensuring she regained full strength.

This week, she was finally ready. Anesthetized for a last health check, she was safely released back into her habitat—free once again to roam the floodplain where she belongs.

Snaring remains a serious threat to wildlife, but effective intervention and collaboration make a difference.

A huge thank you to Cabela Family Foundation for supporting this critical work and to our partners at Zambeze Delta Conservation for their relentless efforts in protecting Mozambique’s wildlife.
