Last month, Dr. Benjamim Moda represented Mozambique Wildlife Alliance in São Tomé e Príncipe, joining a high-intensity veterinary campaign led by AMA – Associação Amigos dos Animais.
The mission? Deliver vital care—vaccination, parasite treatment, and surgery—to hundreds of animals in underserved areas.

Campaign Results:
• 531 animals treated;
• 6 cases of TVT (transmissible venereal tumor) began treatment — a highly contagious cancer that affects unsterilized dogs, and can spread rapidly without veterinary intervention;
• 1 life-saving amputation performed.
The team pushed through extreme heat and torrential rain, working from early morning in complex community settings. Despite the conditions, the surgical and anesthesia teams delivered 100%. This is what frontline impact looks like.
This marks the first of what we hope will be many interventions in STP. We’re proud of Dr. Benjamim and the entire team for showing what skilled, committed, cross-border collaboration can achieve.
A big shoutout to AMA for hosting and coordinating this powerful campaign. Onward!
