HWC Team In Action!

The past weeks have been all about boots on the ground, action in the field, and real impact where it matters most! Our Human-Wildlife Conflict (HWC) team has been hard at work across multiple communities, tackling key challenges, reinforcing solutions, to ensure safer coexistence between people and wildlife.

📍Matsequenha – 36 families rely on this Protected Farming Community electric fence to protect their crops from wildlife, ensuring food security and sustainable agriculture. Keeping these fences in top shape is crucial, so our team was on-site for essential maintenance and reinforcement, making sure the system remains effective in deterring elephants and other wildlife.

📍Macungo – Community sensitization and training on HWC prevention. The best way to prevent conflict? Equip communities with the knowledge and tools to mitigate it before it happens.

📍Xinavane – After receiving HWC reports, our team responded quickly, heading to the field for elephant tracking and conflict assessment. Understanding where and why elephants are moving into human spaces helps us develop more targeted interventions, whether it’s early warning systems, deterrent methods, or community preparedness.

These aren’t just tasks—they’re conservation in motion, ensuring that communities and wildlife can thrive together. A huge shoutout to our dedicated team and partners for making this work possible!
