Injured Hyena Collar Removal

Within the Karingani Game Reserve (KGR), in Massingir district, a mission to rescue an injured adult female hyena unfolded recently. The hyena, previously collared, had suffered a fracture likely linked to hunting.

In collaborative efforts with KGR and ANAC, the MWA team decided to immobilize the hyena to remove the collar due to the reserved prognosis. Ensuring both her safety and the preservation of collar data.

Preserving this data is vital for informed conservation planning and safeguarding these unique creatures and their habitat.

This collaborative effort underscores the commitment of KGR, ANAC and MWA to wildlife conservation, highlighting the importance of swift action in protecting the unique creatures of this region.
